Carol G. Velandia P.

Carol Velandia is the founder and CEO of Equal Access Language Services LLC. She is an expert in the areas of  language access policy and negotiation and conflict resolution. She provides advice to companies and organizations that are seeking to make meaningful cultural changes in their diversity and inclusion policies.Carol helps her clients navigate federal and state-specific regulations and comply with key elements of service delivery to the Limited English Proficient population. She assists in the design, planning and execution of language access plans for companies of all sizes, enabling them to meet culturally and linguistically appropriate standards and abide by regulations designed to uphold civil rights protections and guarantees.As a social worker, interpreter, academic and entrepreneur, Carol’s mission is to end language-based discrimination, and to improve healthcare, justice, and education outcomes for the Limited English Proficient population. By providing equal access to language services, she aims to ensure equal access to essential public services for all members of the population.Carol serves as an adjunct faculty member for the Graduate Program in Interpretation and Translation at the University of Maryland, College Park, and for the Master’s Program in Social Work at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Carol is the creator of “Language as an Equalizer Program,” a program aimed to professionals in the human sciences that provide services to the LEP community,  and of the award winning video “Saving Lives in Many Languages.”

Ana María Gómez Londoño

She’s a scientist in political innovation and cultural change. She holds a Ph.D. in social and human sciences from Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany. Ms. Gómez Londoño  holds the position of Director at the Administrative Unit of National and International Relations of the State of Boyacá, Colombia. She was designated Director of the Political Training Unit for work and labor migration for the Ministry of Labor, where she developed and drafted a legislative bill meant to address the main issues in training related to jobs of the future, as well as the cultural, digital and circular economy in the context of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR). Likewise, She also has good, solid experience working for international organizations and multi-laterals such as the United Nations and the Iber-American Social Security Organization. Moreover, she also worked as a project manager in various new media and new market transnationals as a specialized consultant advising said companies in the creation, development, and strategic positioning of global brands and global branding. Ms. Gómez Londoño is also a seasoned academic and researcher. She is currently a graduate studies professor at the doctoral level in cultural art studies of the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia. And she worked, for over one decade, as an academic researcher for the Cultural and Social Studies Institute (PENSAR).

Dr. Claudia Salazar​

Dr. Claudia Salazar is the owner of The Center for Effective Psychological Services, a Psychology group practice located in Washington DC. There she leads a team of therapists who are passionate about providing their clients with innovative and effective psychotherapy services for busy professionals. As a therapist, consultant, and trainer, Dr. Salazar has been working closely with international humanitarian and development organizations to help strengthen resilience for professionals working in challenging environments. Dr. Salazar holds a doctoral degree from the George Washington University, and a specialization in Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy.Dr. Salazar has over 10 years of experience conducting psychological evaluations for political asylum, waivers for hardship and citizenship examinations, and other immigration purposes for clients from diverse backgrounds and languages.

Dr. Juan Felipe Gutiérrez

Dr. Juan Felipe Gutiérrez Sanín is a physician, educator, curriculum developer, instructor, and public health professional. His extensive professional career has consisted of developing, implementing, and managing curriculum for healthcare programs aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion reducing disparities, and improving access and quality of health services for low income, high-utilizing, populations, especially immigrants and refugees with limited English Proficiency.
Juan holds a Medical Degree from Universidad Javeriana in Colombia, is a specialist in Occupational Safety and Health Administration of Universidad del Rosario also in Colombia, and holds a masters’ degree in Public Health from Western Kentucky University. Juan is fully proficient in English and Spanish. He has been a trainer of medical interpreters for over 20 years. He has presented at over 20 professional national conferences. He is also a recognized curriculum developer having created multiple credited and non-credited training courses for community health workers, patient advocates and medical interpreters. He is certified as an Adult and Youth instructor of Mental Health First Aid since 2017. He has often worked in conjunction with multiple federal and state agencies, and local communities. He currently serves as online faculty at Highline College, Valley Cites Behavioral Health a behavioral health agency in Kent Washington, and SEIU 775

Omari Jeremiah

Omari Jeremiah has worked as a freelance Spanish interpreter for over seven years. He received his Bachelor’s in Sociology from Goucher College and his master’s in Counseling from the University of Baltimore. Omari is a passionate advocate for language access in educational systems. Omari has worked as a resource provider for ESOL students and their families in Baltimore City Public Schools, worked as a resource provider for a school in Baltimore County, and currently works as a Spanish teacher in Baltimore County Public Schools. A native of New York City, Omari has traveled extensively to various countries including Spain, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, and Chile.He is fluent in Spanish, Swahili, Portuguese, and is currently learning American Sign Language. Omari also does freelance work as an online ESL teacher. Besides his love for languages, Omari is also a published author of a children’s book series called Paperboy.

Alejandra Rabanal P.

Alejandra Rabanal is a senior project manager. She has worked in the translation and interpreting fieldfor almost 6 years. She manages the entire life-cycle of multiple and different kinds of complexlocalization projects. Alejandra is a result-driven professional who is passionate about building effectivecross-functional teams to accomplish goals while being productive and effective.She is a licensed translator from the Colegio de Traductores del Peru and she holds a Bachelor’s inProfessional Translation and Interpreting from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC).Alejandra knows how essential it is to serve as linguistic bridges to break down language barriers. Shealso works as a freelance and inhouse English <> Spanish translator and has experience in liaisoninterpretation. Alejandra holds an International Diploma in Project Management and she expects toearn a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification very soon.
