If you are an aspiring interpreter or bilingual staffer aspiring to use your linguistic skills to serve your community, this is the training for you!

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be proficient in at least two languages. NOTE: We recommend that you have tested your language proficiency. Check the ILR scale government scale. If you score at least a 3, you can take the training!
  • Be prepared to be present during the 40 hours of the training. You need to be present the entire time to get the certificate. If you can’t make it on a specific day, please contact us as we will need to coordinate with you for a make-up date: info@equalaccesslanguageservices.com You will receive the certificate once you have completed the 40 hours.
  • Have a computer with zoom

The Community Interpreter Training ®(TCI)

Description: 40 hour training for interpreters that want to serve the community in medical, educational, and social services settings. This is a standard training created by Cross Cultural Communication LLC. Equal Access Language Services is a licensed trainer of the TCI.

This training includes the interpreters’ code of ethics, modes of interpreting, the role of the interpreter, language access laws in the United States as well as practical exercises. The future interpreter will have to take a language assessment before joining the course.

Descripción: 1 día de capacitación para profesionales que trabajan con personas con LEP. La afluencia de inmigrantes y refugiados ha creado una creciente necesidad de servicios cultural y lingüísticamente apropiados. Cualquier institución de servicios humanos que sirva a la comunidad con LEP se beneficiará de esta capacitación. El objetivo de esta capacitación es aumentar la conciencia sobre el impacto de las barreras lingüísticas en la vida de los LEP, así como en el balance de la institución. En Estados Unidos hay aproximadamente 25,3 millones de personas que se consideran con dominio limitado del inglés (LEP) que experimentan peores resultados en la atención médica que cualquier otro grupo demográfico.
